The NFL trade deadline isn’t usually exciting but this year it is. The Kansas City Chiefs are not likely to be involved but we’ve already seen a few big names involved in trades this week.
We’ll use this space to track the trade deadline rumors throughout the day. The deadline is at 3 p.m. (Arrowhead Time) today. Check back for updates.
WR Jarvis Landry available
The Miami Dolphins may not be finished today. Jarvis Landry is available for the right compensation. Not giving him away though.

As you keep reading below I note that the Chiefs probably won’t make any moves because they don’t have much cap space but in the case of Landry it’s different. He has a cap hit of just over $1 million. This is the final year of his contract.
Will the Chiefs make a move?
Probably not. You know why? Cap space. They have about $3.5 million in cap space so it’s tough to make many moves with that limited cap space. The other part is that they’re already without a first round pick next year. We shall see though...
Dolphins trade RB Jay Ajayi to the Eagles
LeGarrette Blount is averaging more yards after contact than Le'Veon Bell is averaging total. But Ajayi for a 4th is a damn steal.

The Eagles were known to be looking for running back help and were even linked to Frank Gore rumors. This is a solid haul for Philly for a fourth round pick. They have the best team in the league right now.
More action if the deadline is moved back?
If the NFL moved the trade deadline back 2 more weeks, as many GMs would prefer, would spur more activity.

Interesting idea. I know some teams have pushed for this before. The biggest reason for more trades, I think, is the cap space. The cap is going up and more teams have more space and can do these trades.
Patriots trade QB Jimmy Garoppolo to 49ers
Jimmy Garoppolo woke up 6-2 this morning and will go to sleep 0-8. Life comes at you fast.

The Patriots actually got less for this Jimmy G. than they did Matt Cassel. They were both flipped for second round picks but the Chiefs also got Mike Vrabel. Garoppolo is in the final year of his deal so we’ll see what the 49ers decide to do after this year. Most had them going after Kirk Cousins.
Texans trade OT Duane Brown to Seattle
Full trade: Seahawks traded CB Jeremy Lane, a 2018 5th-round pick and a 2019 second-round pick to Texans for OT Duane Brown, per sources.

This feels like a Madden trade where it made all the sense in the world but it wouldn’t happen because it’s too obvious. Hey, it actually happened! I’m a little surprised the Texans traded him but they got a second and a fifth for him along with cornerback Jeremy Lane. The Seahawks desperately needed offensive line help and they’re clearly in win-now mode after trading for Sheldon Richardson recently too.
Bills trade DT Marcell Dareus to Jaguars
People wondering why the Bills could only get a sixth-rounder for Marcell Dareus: His cap hit is big. Most teams wouldn't want him.
