The Kansas City Chiefs signed Mitch Schwartz a year and a half ago and at the time it looked like a great signing. As an offensive tackle you’re always going to have some ups and downs going against elite pass rushers like Von Miller and Khalil Mack but Schwartz has been a plus overall.
Schwartz’s performance on Monday night against Von Miller was one of the ups and that’s good because you signed him for this game. He was really solid against Miller, who is arguably the best pass rusher in the NFL (but wasn’t the best pass rusher on the field last night — that was Justin Houston).
PFF had him giving up some pressures to Miller but the way to look at this is: Did Von Miller wreck this game? No? Then Mitch did a great job. He passed the eye test for me.
I followed Mitch’s brother Geoff on Twitter throughout the game and he wasn’t shy about mentioning how well Mitch was playing.
Hey @MitchSchwartz72 ... did Von Miller play tonight? -asking for some All Pro voters.

Last two games, @MitchSchwartz72 vs Mack and Miller... not a finger touched Alex Smith. He's underpaid.

Schwartz mostly held Miller at bay throughout the night. Alex Smith had a pretty good pocket throughout the night — at least compared to previous weeks — but he seemed a little off going just 14/31 on the night.
Things won’t get any easier next week (OK, maybe a little easier) when they face the Cowboys’ Demarcus Lawrence, who is second in the NFL in sacks.
