Good news for Chiefs: CB Steven Nelson is practicing

The cavalry (if you so choose to call it that) is coming.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed that cornerback Steve Nelson will practice Wednesday afternoon.

“He’s in that window of time where he can [practice],” Reid told the KC media. “He’s got to go through practice and see the breaks and endurance, all those things that it would take to get through a practice. I think he’s in pretty good shape. He went through our 10-10-10 (quicker practice) the other day and handled that OK, and that was fairly high-speed.”

Nelson hadn’t practiced all year before Monday, waiting on injured reserve due to preseason core muscle surgery.

As we highlighted below, secondary success is a concern, and Nelson’s return, even if small, would help in that regard.
