Sometimes when rookies come in some they’re completely overhyped. Not to pick on him but I’ll point to Chiefs linebacker Tanoh Kpassagnon. Not that he was “overhyped” but we saw the physical traits and thought he could contribute quickly. Sometimes, however, we forget that things don’t translate that easily. It takes time.
Apparently Kareem Hunt didn’t get the message because when he was coming out of the draft people talked about his ability to make people miss. You hear that a lot so I didn’t expect it to be quite so true in year one. This PFF stat puts into context how many broken tackles he has.
They talked about his ability to make people miss and his contact balance. Admittedly I didn’t really know what contact balance was but now that I’ve seen Kareem Hunt I know he has it. He has elite balance and it shows when he’s running the ball.
What Zeke did last year that was impressive was he lasted all season with over 300 carries and 1,600 yards. If Kareem can play all season, he’ll hit numbers like that.
