Vegas , a surreal day for all of us ...

Let me start off with a few lines about me and how I ended up in Vegas ... 1993 I packed up my Wife and two son's and moved from So Cal to Vegas . I'm a Union Carpenter and the work was booming , most my work has either been on the strip or near it . Vegas is a hard town , mostly a hodge podge of people from other states , its a fast town and like a lot of folks I got caught up in the Vegas way .. 12 yrs back I was in full force of my addiction , got shot and did time because of my drinking , fast forward four years I enter rehab and been sober ever since ... No call at midnight is ever good , it was my Son whom resides in Vegas telling me the on goings of last nights horrific events , even though I don't live in Vegas I work there all week , commute two hours back and forth ... For the next several hours it was making calls to family and friends making sure all in my circle was safe .. As I drove into town it was a somber feeling knowing how many had just lost their lives or fighting to survive , the freeways were shut down , streets closed , folks mulling around in disbelieve , my shop is maybe a mile away from the shooting and the sirens were still present in the distant , news truck reporters and The Police on high alert with assualt rifles on most every corner down the strip ...

. Another senseless act of violence has left people without loved ones, hospitalized and traumatized. As I continue to try and work folks are angry , confussed and in a general dazed state , As i continue through my day listening and talking with folks , I am filled with love and my breath is taken from me seeing people coming together. The police, fire department, hospital staff and civilians that came to and provided aid to the victims has helped countless people. They are true heroes.... Vegas today has shown how a comminty comes together , We will not let One Man define Us ... !!
