The Kansas City Chiefs got a bunch of injury news on Thursday. Some of it was good, some of it not so good.
Let’s start with the bad. LB Justin Houston and G Laurent Duvernay-Tardif are not practicing for the Chiefs. LDT we kinda expected but Houston misses his second consecutive practice with what the Chiefs called calf spasms. Missing two practices is concerning but you hope this is the Chiefs being cautious with a veteran who doesn’t need the practice time. something to monitor for Friday.
The good is that TE Travis Kelce, C Mitch Morse and WR Albert Wilson returned to practice. Kelce advanced to the next stage of the concussion protocol where he can practice in a limited capacity so we’ll see how the Chiefs list him but that sounds like good news to me. Morse has been out for weeks so the fact he’s practicing is great news. We’ll see if he’s practicing to play this week or just getting his feet wet.
Also still at practice is LB Dee Ford. Interesting question brought up by Pete Sweeney on the AP podcast this week. Would you rather have Frank Zombo’s run stopping ability against Le’Veon Bell this week or Dee Ford’s pass rush ability? I say Ford but it’s kinda close.
