Joey Porter’s arrest kicks off Steelers-Chiefs week

Steelers-Chiefs week is off to a roaring start. According to reports, Steelers linebackers coach Joey Porter was arrested outside of a bar last night after the Steelers beat the Dolphins.

The report states that Porter was asked to leave a bar several times and did not. Police were then called.

He said that Mr. Porter and a Pittsburgh police officer argued, with Mr. Porter repeatedly saying “I didn’t put my hands on him.”

Mr. Johnston said that Mr. Porter was handcuffed and placed in a police vehicle without further incident. He was transported to the Allegheny County Jail. Police stopped traffic in both directions. The entire incident lasted about 10 minutes, he said.

This is certainly a distraction in that Mike Tomlin and others are going to be asked about Porter. But do I think the difference in Sunday’s game will be the distraction caused by this? No, not at all. I doubt this will be on anyone’s mind next Sunday when the Steelers walk into Arrowhead.

The reaction from Steelers fans can be seen at Behind The Steel Curtain.
