Andy Reid is on board with Dave Toub the head coach. While Toub is still employed as the Chiefs special teams coach there are reports out there that the Chargers (and soon the Broncos) want to interview him for their head coaching vacancy. Andy Reid acknowledged that and said he’s all for it.
“I’m all for it,” Reid said. “Some of the teams that are talking to them are the ones we play but it’s one of those deals.”
Toub’s unique because he’s a special teams coach and not an offensive or defensive coordinator which is where most head coaches come from.
“Special teams coaches are a unique breed,” Reid said. “They probably don’t get enough credit for what they deal with. They deal with the media, the offensive side, the defensive side, special teams players that make your team, they have to deal with the whole gamut there.”
Toub interviewed for the Bears job before joining the Chiefs in 2013.
“I thought he had a pretty good chance of getting that Chicago job,” Reid said. “He had been there, done a great job for him. They wanted to go in a different direction but I thought he would’ve been perfect for that job.”
Now we will find out if he’s perfect for the Chargers job.
