It’s official: Chris Ballard is gone. The Kansas City Chiefs lose their director of football operations for the Indianapolis Colts GM job. The Colts made the announcement on Sunday evening.

This puts the Chiefs in a precarious position if GM John Dorsey ends up leaving for Green Bay as plenty have speculated. Dorsey could stay, too. We don’t really know the situation other than what’s been reported. But with Ballard gone, there goes the Chiefs safety net. We’ll see who else they have in the front office bullpen.
CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported that Ballard was high on Chiefs special teams coach Dave Toub as his next head coach. However, Chuck Pagano is under contract with the Colts. Until we hear otherwise, I’ll assume Pagano is the coach of the Colts next year. Keep an eye on Toub, though. I sure would like him back in Kansas City next year.
With Andrew Luck, the Colts job is a good one. Put a decent roster around him and the Colts will be Super Bowl contenders.
