The Super Bowl will have a Kansas City Chiefs connection this year. The referee that Travis Kelce went off on last week is now working Super Bowl 51 in a few weeks. FOX commentator and ref expert Mike Pereira took a little shot at Kelce when defending Cheffers’ record as a ref.
“It was a good call at a big time in the game,” Pereira said. “You have to step up when the game is on the line and make those calls and he did. He deserves this assignment. Travis Kelce doesn’t think so. Travis Kelce said it was a lousy call. That it wasn’t a hold. But what’s Travis Kelce doing during the Super Bowl? He’s going to be sitting home watching it while Carl Cheffers is getting paid for it and getting a ring. Kelce isn’t going to be getting anything.”
Kelce didn’t say it was a lousy call. He said it was a horse shit call.
Travis Kelce may not think it's a good call, but Carl Cheffers is the referee for #SB51.
