Chris Jones is already the Chiefs best player in the front seven, PFF says

What if I told you Dontari Poe was the lowest graded player on the Kansas City Chiefs front seven? That’s what Pro Football Focus says in their front seven rankings. They give the top grade to Chris Jones and the lowest to Poe.

It’s tough to grade the Chiefs front seven because of all the injuries. They were bad against the run which isn’t a surprise with Justin Houston and Derrick Johnson not playing (surprisingly they even struggled with DJ).

The defensive line lost Allen Bailey and Jaye Howard but they “found” Chris Jones and Rakeem Nunez-Roches.

You know what’s funny about this group? They weren’t very good against the run (26th) and didn’t get many sacks (28th). I know they’re good. Aren’t they? PFF ranks their front seven eighth in the league. I can’t find the stats to prove it though.

The elephant in the room here is Poe. He’s a free agent. He had the back injury before last season and doesn’t seem quite like the same player. He’s not a bad player by any means. But I look at who the Chiefs have coming back - like Jaye Howard and the emergence of Chris Jones - and I’m not sure the Chiefs will make the type of investment in him that another team would.
