The Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Diego Chargers and the Denver Broncos beat the Oakland Raiders which means the Chiefs are the AFC West champions and the No. 2 overall seed in the AFC playoffs. The Chiefs will have a first round bye while the Raiders travel to Houston on Wild Card weekend.

The Patriots and Chiefs have first round byes. The Steelers will host the Dolphins and the Texans will host the Raiders. Pittsburgh will be favored and if they win they would come to Kansas City.

Chiefs will host Steelers if Pittsburgh beats Miami

If the Steelers beat the Dolphins, the Chiefs would host the Steelers. This is a Pittsburgh team that needed overtime to beat the Browns. But they also have a two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback. They are all over the place. The Steelers ceiling is probably higher than the Chiefs but the Chiefs floor is high. Pittsburgh has the capability of laying an egg.

Chiefs first AFC West title since 2010

The Chiefs won the AFC West in 2010 under Matt Cassel and lost to Baltimore on Wild Card weekend. This year’s Chiefs win the division and will have a first round bye for the first time since 2003.
