A bit of a bizarre start for the Kansas City Chiefs against the San Diego Chargers. They started the game without Travis Kelce. Their drive kept going and going and yet Kelce wasn’t on the field. He was on the sidelines. The TV cameras showed him so he wasn’t missing. He just didn’t play at all on the first drive.
Kelce came in on the Chiefs second drive in the second quarter and threw a key block on Alex Smith’s touchdown run.
There has been no explanation for why he didn’t play the first drive. They apparently weren’t resting him or saving him if he ended up coming into the game later. Some sort of discipline? I’m not really sure here. Andy Reid will talk to the media after the game but don’t expect many details from him.
