Chiefs cut Jordan Devey after waiver wire claims

The 53rd player on the Kansas City Chiefs roster was apparently G Jordan Devey. Per the NFL transactions report, the Chiefs on Sunday cut Devey, who was signed this offseason.

He made the initial 53-man roster but it’s a good reminder that the first 53-man roster is not the last one. Chiefs GM John Dorsey is always working the waiver wire and in this case he claimed two players - LB Sam Barrington from the Packers and OT Bryan Witzmann from the Cowboys. The Chiefs cut Devey and LB Ramik Wilson to make room for it.

Devey has some NFL experience which is why I could’ve seen him making the 53-man roster. But the Chiefs also have reserves Zach Fulton, who can back up guard and center, and Jah Reid, who can back up guard and tackle.
