The Kansas City Chiefs cut rookie QB Kevin Hogan with most of us expecting him to land on the practice squad. That won’t be happening. According to reports, Hogan is joining the Cleveland Browns practice squad.
The #Browns are signing QB Kevin Hogan, waived yesterday by the #KCChiefs, to their practice squad, source said.

Here’s what I wonder: Did the Chiefs try to keep him? I know they cut him but did they do so with the hope that Hogan would join their practice squad and he chose the Browns instead? Or did the Chiefs not even try to bring him back? I would be surprised if it were the latter because they drafted him in the fifth round just a few months ago.
If I’m Hogan and I’m looking at the depth charts, I’m thinking I have a better chance to play in Cleveland than I do in Kansas City. And working with Hue Jackson would be cool. I can see the reasoning from his standpoint.
This will be the earliest the Chiefs have lost a draft pick this high in Andy Reid and John Dorsey’s tenure in Kansas City. It won’t really harm the Chiefs because they have three quarterbacks ahead of him that they like but it is surprising to me.
