Chiefs waiver wire claims mean 2 more cuts coming, only one of theirs claimed

The Kansas City Chiefs claimed two players off of the waiver wire - LB Sam Barrington from the Packers and OT Bryan Witzmann from the Cowboys. This means that that Chiefs 53-man roster we showed you yesterday will be changing. The Chiefs will need to be cutting two more players to make room for Barrington and Witzmann.

(Update: One of the cuts is in: LB Ramik Wilson and the other is G Jordan Devey)

Go check out the Chiefs 53-man roster. Who will get cut? WR De’Anthony Thomas and RB Knile Davis were mild surprises to make the 53-man roster so you wonder about them. Look at the last player on the depth chart. Offensive line for example could be Jordan Devey. Inside linebacker could be DJ Alexander (tough call because he’s a special teams ace). We should be getting that news soon.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs had just one of their cuts claimed off waivers - TE Brian Parker by the Jets. The Chiefs thought they would have more claims than that. That means that QB Aaron Murray and QB Kevin Hogan both cleared waivers. The Chiefs could be bringing Hogan back to the practice squad. RB Darrin Reaves cleared waivers and seems like a likely practice squad candidate. Both Chiefs defensive tackles - David King and Jimmy Staten - cleared waivers too. I thought they had a shot to get claimed.

By next Saturday the Chiefs exemption for Berry will expire and they will make another cut to fit him on the roster.
