We went through the highlights of the Kansas City Chiefs injury report earlier - RB Jamaal Charles is doubtful, G Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is questionable while guards Jah Reid and Parker Ehinger are already ruled out.
Here’s a late addition: CB Phillip Gaines.
He was not on the injury report until Friday when the Chiefs listed him as limited in practice with a knee injury. They say he’s questionable for the game.
I don’t know what the injury is but this is clearly worrisome because of the timing. There are only two days to the game. Something even relatively minor could be a problem. Not to mention that Gaines is coming off of that ACL last season.
I would guess that Steven Nelson slides into that role. He played a ton of snaps on both defense and special teams last week. Defensive backs DJ White and Eric Murray could also be in play, along with Daniel Sorensen, if Gaines can’t go.
The Chiefs are obviously hoping he can go. This would be a problem against Brandon Marshall and Brandon Decker. I was already concerned about this match up even with Gaines playing.
