Alex Smith says he hasn’t seen any slow down from Jamaal Charles

There’s still no word from the Kansas City Chiefs on when Jamaal Charles will play. An ESPN report over the weekend said it would be this week but Andy Reid hasn’t confirmed that, instead pumping the brakes and saying the longer you can wait with him the better. As ESPN’s Adam Teicher writes, early signs aren’t looking good for Jamaal to play on Sunday. We’ll see though, it’s still early.

When Jamaal is back, the Chiefs are hoping they have the same old Jamaal. Alex Smith talked with Kevin Kietzman on 810 this afternoon and said that during practice recently he hasn’t seen Jamaal slow down a bit. He said that he’s been “rolling” for a few weeks now. Alex sure sounded like a guy who was watching the same old Jamaal during practice. Reid also indicated earlier this week that he thought Jamaal would come back as the same guy, or at least a guy that can “scoot” as Reid put it.

That’s not the only question with Jamaal. The Chiefs need to figure out how many reps he will take when he does play and when he’s a full go - if he’s a full go - how will he split carries with Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West. Maybe we’ll start to figure that out this weekend. Or maybe not.
