QB injuries around NFL showing why Chiefs were smart to get Nick Foles

It’s becoming clear why the Kansas City Chiefs wanted Nick Foles when he became available. If Jay Cutler is out for any length of time, the total count will be five NFL teams that have lost their starting quarterback.

The Browns are down to their third string quarterback after starter Robert Griffin III and backup Josh McCown both went down.

Same for the Patriots who could be starting Jacoby Brissett on Thursday night. Tom Brady is out with a suspension but Jimmy Garappolo is out with an injury for now.

The Vikings lost Teddy Bridgewater a week before the season and gave up a first round pick for Sam Bradford.

The Dallas Cowboys lost Tony Romo for at least half the year (maybe more) while Dak Prescott is filing in for him.

Alex Smith has missed one game due to injury as a Chief when he missed the Week 17 game in the 2014 season. Based on his previous injury history, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him miss games in KC at some point. The Chiefs have to be prepared for that and I think they are with Nick Foles. His value is getting higher and higher with the more quarterback injuries around the league.
