Tracking NFL roster cuts: KC Chiefs edition

UPDATE: Here is Saturday's cut tracker

The Kansas City Chiefs and the rest of the NFL will make their roster cuts by Saturday’s 3 p.m. (Arrowhead Time) deadline. The Chiefs will be going from the 75-man roster limit to 53 players.

The Chiefs have a deep roster so they will see some of their players get picked up by other teams. Last year they had two players claimed off of waivers on this weekend and they traded one. That number could be larger this year.

The Chiefs will also be looking at the waiver wire themselves. I could see them eyeing an offensive tackle to develop or perhaps a pass rusher if one becomes available.

Not all the players will be cut to get down to 53 players. The Chiefs could also put a player on injured reserve if they are hurt. It seems there’s a mystery IR player each year.

The Chiefs will also be making their practice squad on Sunday. It will have 10 players on it and will be made up largely of the players that you see cut on Saturday. So not everyone that’s cut will really be gone.

We’ll be tracking the interesting cuts below. Scroll down to see more. Find all the NFL cuts here.

Tracking the NFL roster cuts

These Chiefs have reportedly been cut:

QB Aaron Murray: Not a shocker but the biggest name here. He will end up on a team someplace.

LB Andy Mulumba: He was probably battling Dadi Nicolas for the final pass rusher spot.

CB Marcus Cooper (traded to Cardinals): Woohoo! Nice job by Dorsey to get something for a player they were potentially going to cut.

CB Deveron Carr: I actually like him. He had little shot of making the roster but he's worth spending more time with.

OT Reid Fragel: Long shot to begin with.

WR DaRon Brown: 2015 seventh round pick. Could be a practice squad guy.

S Jeron Johnson: Some people had him on the 53-man roster. He is one of the most experienced (five years).

S Jamell Fleming: Moved from corner to safety this year. Not a surprising cut given where he was in reps.
