There is a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Jamaal Charles is expected to return to the Kansas City Chiefs not this week but next week against the New York Jets. This was reported early Sunday morning.
Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles is expected to make his debut in week 3 against the Jets, per source. https://t.co/2WpMGV6Uhn

That sounds about right. The Chiefs have him listed as doubtful this week but they’ve been indicating he’s close to returning as he’s been working with the scout team during practice (that’s a hell of a scout team back). He should be practicing more this week if he will return so by next week we’ll have a good idea of whether this report is accurate.
Jamaal’s return is anticipated not only because he’s a great player but also because we want to see how the Chiefs are going to use him, Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West. Ware and West replaced Jamaal last year and since he’s been out so far this year we don’t have a good idea of what that split will look like. I would imagine the Chiefs ease Jamaal in very slowly over the first few weeks mostly because they can. Not all teams have this type of depth at running back so the Chiefs can afford to exercise plenty of patience, which they’ve been doing this offseason.
One more week until the return. I can’t wait.
