In addition to Kansas City Chiefs guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif dealing with a high ankle sprain, the Chiefs are dealing with a concussion with their other guard, rookie Parker Ehinger.
You’re telling me both of the Chiefs starting guards could be out against JJ Watt, Vince Wilfork, Jadeveon Clowney and Whitney Mercilus? Umm....
If LDT’s high ankle sprain keeps him out, Zach Fulton would step in. If LDT and Ehinger are out on Sunday then I’m guessing the second replacement guard would be Jah Reid.
Our own MNChiefsfan is a big fan of Jah Reid at guard. In fact, earlier this summer he made the case that Jah Reid should be starting at guard based on his very limited performance last year. It is indeed a small sample size from last year but it is also intriguing because he did well.
The Chiefs offensive line depth will be tested early on but that’s OK. The Chiefs haven’t had the best offensive linemen in recent years but they have been deep in the sense that their seventh offensive lineman isn’t all that different from their second or third lineman. I’m not sweating Fulton and potentially Reid all that much, to be honest. It’s certainly not ideal because LDT has had a strong start to the season. Disappointed for him if he can’t play.
