The Kansas City Chiefs had WR De’Anthony Thomas inactive for Sunday’s opener against the San Diego Chargers. That was one of the big questions from fans so Andy Reid explained why on Monday.
“Well there’s some things that he does, there’s some things that (Tyreek) was doing yesterday and so De’Anthony does some of those things not only on the return game, but also the offensive scheme stuff that we do,” Reid said. “I only needed one of them yesterday, and De’Anthony has come off of a good camp. We have full confidence in De’Anthony. It doesn’t have anything to do with his work effort or anything else. We used (Tyreek) in those situations.”
DAT and Tyreek Hill are similar players so them playing together has been a question. Reid said that there could be a time this year when they need both players in the game so it’s not a sure thing that DAT will be inactive every week. Given how much they’ve hyped Tyreek in the return game and the fact he scored the first touchdown of the year, it’s hard for me to see them deactivating him anytime soon.
