Former NFL RBs pick Jamaal Charles for comeback player of the year

NFL: Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

A few months ago former NFL running back Maurice Jones-Drew - now with NFL Network - picked the Kansas City Chiefs to win the next Super Bowl.

MJD’s love of the Chiefs took another step this week when NFL.com’s preseason awards were released. He picked the Chiefs’ Jamaal Charles to win the comeback player of the year award after Jamaal tore his ACL in Week 5 last year.

He's been in this position before and knows what it takes to bounce back and have a good season,” MJD wrote.

It must be a running back thing because another former NFL back - Michael Robinson - agreed with MJD’s pick.

“After his first ACL injury in 2011, Charles rushed for 1,509 yards the following season,” Robinson wrote.

Indeed. Except this year Jamaal will have some help in the backfield in the form of Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West. I don’t think he’ll be getting 1,500 yards this year.

Also of note: NFL fantasy dude Dave Dameshek called Jamaal “The Most Underrated Player of The Generation”.

Check out the whole piece here. Most of them are picking the Chiefs to win the AFC West too.
