Chiefs say Nick Foles signing is a rare opportunity

It’s now official. The Kansas City Chiefs have signed QB Nick Foles. The formal announcement comes via a press release which includes this quote from Chiefs GM John Dorsey:

“It’s rare this time of year to have an opportunity to add an established veteran player to your roster, especially at the quarterback position,” Dorsey said in a statement posted by the Chiefs. “Nick has proven he can play at a high level in this league. He’s smart, competitive, and experienced with Coach Reid and his system. He’ll be able to add insight and knowledge to a talented group of quarterbacks currently in our room.”

Note the “established veteran” line because that’s the difference between Foles and Tyler Bray, Aaron Murray and Kevin Hogan. Foles has 24 starts under his belt. None of the other Chiefs backups had attempted a pass in the regular season. Bray had been on IR for two of his three seasons, Murray is entering his third year in the league and Hogan is a rookie.

Foles WILL practice today at Chiefs camp, which is inside due to the weather and therefore not open to the public. Boo.
