Nick Foles is coming to the Chiefs, multiple reports say

Well then. The Kansas City Chiefs were serious about signing Nick Foles. Because sometime over night they did just that. Multiple NFL Network reports say the Chiefs and Foles have agreed to terms.

I gotta say, I didn’t think this would really happen. There is the Andy Reid connection but with Tyler Bray, Aaron Murray and Kevin Hogan on the roster I didn’t think Kansas City would be the pick. But Andy Reid is the quarterback whisperer and Foles must believe that Reid gives him the best chance of resurrecting his career.

Foles was a Pro Bowl player for the Eagles in 2013 throwing 27 touchdowns passes to just two interceptions. That is a high enough ceiling that it makes me wonder if the Chiefs are thinking about life after Alex Smith with this signing. Alex is under contract through 2018.

There’s no word on the contract details but the Chiefs had about $400k in cap space before this so I am guessing some other move would have to be made to fit him in.

If you remove all the contract stuff and ask yourself this: Do I feel better about Foles coming into a game than Bray, Murray or Hogan? Probably so considering Foles actually has some NFL experience. But it does suck that you spent three years developing Tyler Bray and two with Murray and you won't get anything out of them ... unless one of them somehow stays on the roster.

The Chiefs are off camp today. They’re back at it on Friday.
