It’s official: Justin Houston is out the first six weeks of the season. The Kansas City Chiefs have placed him on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.
Chiefs OLB Justin Houston has been placed on the PUP list. He will miss at least the first 6 weeks of the regular season.

Houston was on preseason PUP before and now it’s regular season PUP, which means he can not play in the first six weeks of the season. After those six weeks, the Chiefs have a three week window to decide whether to activate him and have him count against the 53-man roster. Assuming all goes well they will do that and activate him within those three weeks. If they don’t for some reason, he’s done for the year.
This means that the Chiefs won’t have Houston for at least the following five games: Chargers, Texans, Jets, Steelers, Raiders. The first game he could potentially come back would be Week 7 ... or it could (likely) be later than that.
