The Kansas City Chiefs have cut WR Mitch Mathews, according to a message his agent posted on Twitter. By my count this gets the Chiefs to 79 players and a few hours remaining until they have to be down to 75 players.
The Chiefs just released Mitch Mathews (WR, BYU)... Highly sought-after rookie free agent never got much of an opportunity this preseason.

Mathews had interesting physical skills because he’s a lanky 6’5. Also, he came out of BYU, which is Andy Reid’s favorite school. He was best known coming out of school for a Hail Mary catch and was an undrafted free agent that a number of teams seemed interested in. However, he was buried on the Chiefs receiver depth chart. The Chiefs have four receivers who were pretty close to locks coming into camp leaving little room for others.
I wonder if he’s a practice squad candidate. His body size is intriguing but might need to spend a little more time bulking up. The Chiefs will establish their practice squad this weekend.
