There’s a rumor the Chiefs are trying to sign Nick Foles

We have a good ‘ol Kansas City Chiefs rumor for you. ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Chiefs aren’t one of the teams interested in signing free agent ... NICK FOLES?!?!

The Andy Reid connection is at play here. Reid drafted Foles in the third round of the 2012 draft, one year before he came to Kansas City. Foles was most recently with the Rams who went out and drafted a quarterback with the top pick.

Do I want Nick Foles? I guess the real question is whether he’s better than Tyler Bray or Aaron Murray. And he would have to be a lot better because I’m assuming he’ll cost more than Bray or Murray do for the Chiefs. The Chiefs would have to make some sort of roster move or contract adjustment to get more than the $432,795 they have in cap space now. Someone of note would have to be cut (any guesses?) or a contract renegotiated. (Editor's note: I guess if he's signing for the minimum there's not as much room to make) There are a lot of options there as the Chiefs are right up against the cap this year, the least amount of space in the league.

There’s also the question of how the Chiefs depth chart would look going forward if they did sign him. It would be Alex Smith, Nick Foles and ... Kevin Hogan? Probably the safest backup on the roster if you ask me.

Others have reported on the the Chiefs interest in Foles. There are other teams (Cowboys, Vikings) reported to be interested, too.
