The Kansas City Chiefs continue to whittle their roster down to the required 75 players ahead of Tuesday’s deadline. Guard Garrick Mayweather is the latest to be cut, according to an announcement from the Chiefs.
Updates: Tracking the Chiefs roster cuts
Mayweather joined the team this offseason and was a long shot to make it. He was listed behind Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and Jordan Devey at right guard. Considering Devey himself is on the roster bubble, Mayweather’s odds weren’t great.
He becomes the ninth Chiefs to be cut in the past 24 hours: CB Bryce Cheek, DL Niko Davis, OL Curtis Feigt, CB Malcolm Jackson, WR Seantavious Jones, LB Jonathan Massaquoi, WR Kashif Moore and C Drew Nowak.
By my count, the Chiefs have five more roster moves to get down to 75.
