The Kansas City Chiefs announced their initial roster cuts of eight players: CB Bryce Cheek, DL Niko Davis, OL Curtis Feigt, CB Malcolm Jackson, WR Seantavious Jones, LB Jonathan Massaquoi, WR Kashif Moore and C Drew Nowak.
None of these cuts are stunners but a couple of interesting ones. The Chiefs will need to be down to 75 players by Tuesday so more cuts are coming. You can see the Chiefs full roster here.
A few thoughts on each...
CB Bryce Cheek: He was facing long odds in a crowded secondary.
DL Niko Davis: He played just one snap on Saturday so we should’ve seen it coming.
OL Curtis Feigt: He didn’t play at all on Saturday. Tough to find a roster spot for an offensive tackle. After Eric Fisher and Mitch Schwartz, there’s probably one spot and that’s between Jah Reid and Zach Sterup.
CB Malcolm Jackson: He was the one in coverage on the Seahawks Hail Mary.
WR Seantavious Jones: He actually had a decent camp. I’m surprised he’s cut this early. I could’ve seen a practice squad spot for him.
LB Jonathan Massaquoi: He had some NFL experience and was signed this summer. He apparently didn’t show enough because he’s gone already.
WR Kashif Moore: Crowded room of receivers.
C Drew Nowak: Former Seahawks center, Nowak’s chances took a hit when Zach Fulton showed he could be the backup center and guard.
