The Kansas City Chiefs have already ruled out eight players for Saturday’s game against the Chicago Bears. They’re mostly the names you would expect:
RB Jamaal Charles, LB Justin Houston, LB Tamba Hali, LB Josh Mauga, LB Dezman Moses, QB Tyler Bray, RB Charcandrick West, FB Trey Millard.
I don’t see Phillip Gaines’ name listed. Andy Reid says there’s a good chance that Gaines will make his preseason debut, which is great news.
It’s too bad that Bray isn’t playing. He was out for a week with his injury but came back this week. I wonder if the doctors haven’t cleared him for game action or if the Chiefs are just being cautious. Either way, it’s one less opportunity for us to get a glimpse at the backup quarterback competition.
Jamaal and Tamba also returned this week but won’t play. They’re both vets who probably don’t need the preseason. And if either of them were injured in a meaningless August game I would go berserk and break this blog. (If that’s possible)
Also note that there are three outside linebackers and one inside linebacker hurt. That’s a lot of linebackers. Frank Zombo will get plenty of work.
