Derrick Johnson says KC Chiefs like flying under the radar

Derrick Johnson joined NFL Network and almost caused a firestorm in Kansas City when he seemed to start to say that Texas barbecue was better than Kansas City ... but then he caught himself and didn’t answer. “I plead the fifth,” he said.

The Kansas City Chiefs LB went on to say something you’ll like a little more. Asked about the defending Super Bowl champion Broncos and the up and coming Raiders getting a lot of attention, DJ says the Chiefs like flying under the radar.

“Keep us under the radar,” DJ said. “We like flying like that. We’ll be in the thick of it at the end of the year. We have a team that has a core group of guys, high character guys on offense and defense. Keep us under the radar. We’ll put ourselves there at the end of the year hopefully.”

The Chiefs are a veteran team who feel pretty confident about their playoff chances. And they should. Watching them in camp this month, it’s clear that this is the best overall team the Chiefs have had since Andy Reid arrived.
