Jeremy Maclin doesn’t think ejection happens in regular season

On the one hand, I love that Jeremy Maclin has so much fire in a preseason game that he lets his emotions get going and he ends up getting ejected. I love that it means that much to him and it’s just a preseason game.

On the other hand, come on ... you can’t get ejected for fighting in a football game. Maclin did appear to start the physical contact by grabbing the Rams’ Lamarcus Joyner, who responded with a punch. The refs were right there when it happened - the other rule of fighting, don’t do it when the refs are looking - so both were ejected.

Maclin tells Terez Paylor of the KC Star that he doesn’t think that ejection happens in the regular season.

“I don’t necessarily agree with (the refs) did, but at the end of the day, I can’t put myself in that position,” said Maclin, who added that he didn’t think the ejection would happen in the regular season.

Find video of the incident here.

Can you imagine being in a meaningful regular season game in late November and this happening?! Me neither. Maclin is a vet and he was aware this was just a preseason game.

Again, I love the fire. Knowing that Maclin knows the difference between preseason game and a regular season game, I’m not too upset about this. It might not be such a bad thing to show those young pups Chris Conley and Albert Wilson that here you’ve got an eight-year vet on a $55 million contract and it means so freakin’ much to him he’s fighting over it. (Also show them how he caught a touchdown pass a few minutes before this)
