The Kansas City Chiefs are ranked one spot behind the Denver Broncos in ESPN’s preseason NFL power rankings for the 2016 season. The Broncos are eighth while the Chiefs are ninth. The Broncos are the defending Super Bowl champs while the Chiefs, as ESPN points out, have the longest running regular season win streak in the NFL.
“The Chiefs lost to the Patriots in the division playoffs last season,” ESPN writes, “but no team currently has a longer regular-season win streak than Kansas City (10 games). In fact, no other team has a streak longer than three games.”
The Chiefs and Broncos are competing to win the AFC West this year and for the first time in a while there’s talk of a third team in the race: the Oakland Raiders, who are ranked 11th. We’ll see if Oakland is for real or not. If they are, this becomes one of the most competitive divisions in football.. The Chargers, meanwhile, are ranked 28th.
The teams ranked ahead of the Chiefs in addition to the Broncos: Bengals, Steelers, Panthers, Packers, Patriots, Cardinals and Seahawks (1).
