Chiefs first team defense likely to get a look at the No. 1 pick in LA

The Kansas City Chiefs will be facing the Los Angeles Rams this weekend and that means they’ll get a look at Jared Goff, the No. 1 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Not only that, Goff will likely be taking first team reps.

The LA Times reports that Rams coach Jeff Fisher said it’s “quite likely” that Goff will see some reps with the first team against the Chiefs.

Andy Reid said on ESPN’s Mike & Mike on Monday that usually the starters will play the first two quarters (or so) in this second preseason game, which means there’s a pretty good chance that the Chiefs first team defense will see the No. 1 pick in action.

Goff played last week against the Dallas Cowboys in the preseason opener going 4-of-9 passing for 38 yards, one interception and one sack. A rating of 17.1.

The Chiefs first team defense isn’t exactly the Chiefs first team defense. Eric Berry isn’t there. Justin Houston and Tamba Hali aren’t there. Josh Mauga is also out which makes four potential starters not playing. That’s almost half the defense. Still, I’ll take the Chiefs defense over Goff in this one.
