Chiefs expect Eric Berry to show up at the “appropriate time”

Kansas City Chiefs GM John Dorsey spoke to the media on Wednesday and it sounds like they are expecting Eric Berry to return to the team before the start of the season.

Via ESPN’s Adam Teicher, Dorsey was confident he would play Week 1 and cited Berry’s agent in saying that they expect him to show up “at some juncture” and later said the “appropriate time”. That would be before Week 1.

The season doesn’t start until September 11. Berry probably needs a little bit of time to get back into football shape. He hasn’t practiced with the team since the end of the season. If you’re wondering if he’s staying in shape, I will remind you he stayed in shape during chemo. So don’t worry too much about him.

The Chiefs are done with the St. Joe portion of training camp next week and then they’ll continue practicing in Kansas City. The Chiefs final preseason game is on September 1, which gives them about 10 days before the opener.
