The NFL announced earlier this year that they will make three classic games from each team’s history available on YouTube. The fans voted and we have the three Kansas City Chiefs games they’ll put on YouTube.
(Little secret here for the NFL. Most of these games are already on YouTube.)
Montana Magic: Chiefs-Broncos, 1994 Monday Night Football
This had the highest percentage of the vote (43 percent). It’s not only a classic Montana comeback but you also have Mitch Holthus with the memorable, “Touchdown Montana Magic!”. Additionally, this came against John Elway and the Broncos which makes it even sweeter.
You say Montana Magic in Kansas City and everyone knows you’re talking about Montana’s pass to Willie Davis.
Check out these highlights below:
The Streak Begins: Chiefs-Oilers, 1993 AFC Divisional Round
The Chiefs were 7-point road ‘dogs. The Oilers were so good. They should not have won this game. But then the Chiefs sacked Warren Moon NINE times and won the game to move onto the AFC Championship game. Man, I remember this game so well. It was the Chiefs last playoff win before they beat the Texans earlier this year. The box score from that game is here.
You mention this game and everyone thinks of Keith Cash throwing the ball at the Buddy Ryan poster.
The Streak Is Over: Chiefs-Texans, 2015 AFC Wild Card Round
You remember this one...
Which games did they miss? The week before the Chiefs beat the Oilers, they went to overtime and beat the Steelers in the AFC Wild Card game. I would consider the Chiefs-Packers game in 2003 when Dante Hall brought one back and the Chiefs came back from down 17 — in Green Bay!. You could pick a bunch of moments from that 2003 season. What a time to be alive.
Speaking of that 2003 season, the Chiefs are involved in classic games from two other teams, including the first game they lost in 2003.
- Chiefs-Bengals, 2003, Week 11
- Chiefs-Colts, 2013 AFC Wild Card game
