We were talking with Tyler Bray when the rookies and quarterbacks were arriving to Kansas City Chiefs training camp this week when someone asked which receivers stood out to him during OTAs. Usually quarterbacks will say they all looked good or something like that. But Bray thought for a second and said Tyreek Hill stood out to him.
Hill, the Chiefs fifth round pick, has had plenty of publicity, not all of it good. The one good thing though has been the talk of his speed. It seems like those who play with Hill are shocked by his speed.
Chiefs WR Mike Williams played with 2012 Olympic long jumper and Bills WR Marquise Goodwin in Buffalo. With that context, here’s what Williams said about Hill:
“Quick man, fast,” Williams said via quotes from the Chiefs. “That speed. I played with Goodwin in Buffalo, and I haven’t seen anything like this. He’s quick and fast, and I can’t wait till the world gets to see him.”
Phillip Gaines called him a special player.
One word of caution. OK four words: Dexter McCluster. De’Anthony Thomas. They’re all similar players that are quick and shifty. They all look great in the training camp environment when you’re not getting tackled. Let’s just tap the brakes a little. Hill having a great camp is the easiest prediction out there.
Still, the speed is all everyone talks about with Hill. I really want to see if this translates to real game situations.
