Deal between Chiefs, Eric Berry not ruled out yet, per reports

While there were reports on Wednesday that Eric Berry and the Kansas City Chiefs are unlikely to reach a deal before Friday’s deadline, more reports are emerging on Thursday that a deal hasn’t been ruled out yet.

This according to reports from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and the KC Star’s Terez Paylor.

I probably shouldn’t speculate on sources but yesterday’s reports a deal wasn’t likely to happen sure seemed like it came from Berry’s camp while these reports today sure seem like they’re coming from the Chiefs. I can’t say for sure though.

The key point here is the one Rapoport makes — Dorsey’s best offer comes on Friday. Chiefs fans know that because we’ve been paying attention over the years, including last season with Justin Houston. Berry’s camp probably realizes that as well so they’re waiting to see the best offer.

Hopefully, they’re waiting to see the last offer and quickly accept it. Despite all the reports, doing a deal now benefits both Berry and the Chiefs.
