Today's KC Chiefs news...

Hall of Flameout - 25 worst collapses in sports history | ESPN

16. Quarterback Alex Smith turned in a playoff performance better than Joe Montana ever did in a Kansas City Chiefs uniform. It was better than any playoff performance by Chiefs legend Len Dawson, too. Smith's 378-yard, four-touchdown performance was good enough to help the Chiefs build a 28-point third-quarter lead over the Colts in Indianapolis. But it wasn't good enough to help Kansas City win the game, as the Colts rallied to win 45-44. Only the 1992 Buffalo Bills had blown a bigger playoff lead.

The Houston Texans announced themes for their 2016 home games. The Texans will don Liberty White Out in their season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs on September 13, and on the 15th anniversary of September 11 against the Chicago Bears.

Mikhail Sands, one-handed cornerback, grinds towards pro dreams | chsaanow.com

The bench was intimidating, and Sands didn’t know how he was going to lift the bar, or if he even could. All he knew is if he tried and failed, it wouldn’t hurt him nearly as much as if he didn’t try at all. Sands was at the Kansas City Chiefs Training Center in April when he was assisted in connecting his left hand to a barbell with athletic tape. It was not a time to back down in the face of challenge — he was there to do what all the nation's other top high school players were doing at the Blue-Grey All-American Heartland Regional Combine.

‘Y-Iso’ and the Tight End is Taking over the NFL | The MMQB with Peter King

With the influx of incoming tight ends from collegiate spread offenses, Y-ISO has become increasingly en vogue over the last five years. The formation consists of three wide receivers on one side of the formation and a tight end on the other side, whether he’s a yard away from the offensive tackle with his hand in the dirt or split out to the sideline. The isolation creates numerous coverage mismatches across the field and it can help quarterbacks identify coverage during pre-snap. In Kansas City, it has emboldened Travis Kelce.

Pre-Camp Reads: Looking at OL Mitch Schwartz | Chiefs.com

"I’ve always been big on technique," Schwartz explained. "You need to be strong, you need to be athletic, you need to be fast, but your technique is what you hang your hat on. In the heat of the moment, when you’re going against (Denver Broncos linebacker) Von Miller or (Oakland Raiders linebacker) Khalil Mack, you’re not thinking about too much. You just have to react to things. "It’s all muscle memory, so you have to have a good foundation for what you’re doing."

The best NFL fans 2016: The dynamic fan equity methodology | Emory

At the bottom we have the Bills, Rams, Chiefs, Raiders and Jaguars.  This is a similar list to last year.  The Jags, for example, only filled 91% of capacity (ranked 27th) despite an average ticket price of just $57.  The Chiefs struggle because the fan support doesn't match the team's performance.  The Chiefs capacity utilization rate ranks 17thin the league despite a winning record and low ticket prices.  The Raiders fans again finish low in our rankings.  And every year the response is a great deal of anger and often threats.
