Chiefs will have to see if Jamaal Charles is limited at training camp

I don’t think it’s cause for concern but Andy Reid seemed to slow down on the talk of Jamaal Charles returning full-go for training camp. The Chiefs head coach was asked if there was anyone expected to be limited in training camp and he brought up Jamaal’s name.

“I think we’ll have to see with Jamaal,” Reid said via quotes from the Chiefs. “Again, you don’t want to take any steps back, he had two good days here. And we’ll see how he does at camp. We’re optimistic by the two days, but let’s not rush him. We know what he’s all about and let’s get him back to where he feels good. Whatever time table that is or how much he practices there, we’ll see how it goes day-by-day.”

I’m probably looking into this too much. Jamaal practiced for a couple of days this week but then took Thursday off. Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder said back in March that with no setbacks they anticipated seeing Jamaal ready in July.

Reid said that everyone needs practice but an eight-year vet like Jamaal probably needs it less so. Get some work in with Jamaal in August, don’t let anyone hit him and be ready to roll in September. Sounds like a plan to me.
