Jamaal Charles returned to the field and went through individual drills at Kansas City Chiefs practice this week for the first time in 247 days.
Excuse me for one second ....
WOOHOOO!!! YESSSSSSSSSS! JAAAAAAAAMAAAAAAAL!!!!!
OK, thanks, I’m back.
Jamaal tore his ACL in October so we are around eight months after surgery. He looked pretty good even a few weeks ago so, predictably, he looked OK in shorts and a helmet this week. Nick Jacobs of Time Warner Cable caught these clips of Jamaal running without any trouble:
If a picture is worth a thousand words. How much is this Jamaal Charles return video worth? #Chiefs https://t.co/ihqlerYuLF

One of Herbie Teope’s photographers caught this image of Jamaal - notice no knee brace.

It’s exciting to see his return but truthfully this just tells us he can run. It doesn't tell us if he can stop on a dime and cut to avoid getting hit. That will come with more reps in training camp but even then I suspect the Chiefs won't be tackling Jamaal in training camp. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Jamaal sat out most of the preseason too. I’m OK saving him for the season.
