Mike Mayock's top cornerbacks for the Kansas City Chiefs to consider

We've been highlighting a number of cornerbacks that could be available at the Kansas City Chiefs 28th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft because that's one of the Chiefs biggest needs. NFL Network's Mike Mayock released his updated position rankings for the draft so let's take a peek at his cornerbacks.

The top two won't be available for the Chiefs: 1) FSU's Jalen Ramsey and 2) Florida's Vernon Hargreaves

The next three might:

3. Ohio State's Eli Apple
4. Miami's Artie Burns
5. Houston's William Jackson

We know about Apple and Jackson and I'd also throw Clemson's Mackensie Alexander in there. Mayock has Alexander dropping from No. 4 to out of the top five from his last update. Others say Alexander could end up being the best corner in the draft. So who knows.

What's really interesting to me here is Artie Burns. That's higher than most others have him ranked. I hadn't paid much attention to him until NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah mocked him to the Chiefs last week. Then I noticed that Mayock had him ranked in the top three in the last update.

We highlighted his Miami pro day where they worked out in the rain. He's listed at 5'11 or 6' depending where you look, which is right around the height the Chiefs like. He has a backstory that suggests he is mentally tough with his Mom passing last year and his Dad in prison and him having to declare. His physical skills test very well which is of interest to the Chiefs considering their background trying out unconventional athletes. He's someone we should keep an eye on even though others have him rated much lower.
