NFL Draft best available: Chiefs should have plenty of information on Dak Prescott

Looking at some of the best available players entering the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Texas A&M Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott's name catches my eye. I say that because former Andy Reid and John Dorsey colleague, Jon Gruden, mentioned Prescott as a possibility for the Chiefs recently.

"Andy Reid, he's been able to coach all kinds of different quarterbacks," Gruden said in the KC Star. "He took Donovan McNabb out of Syracuse -€” I coached Donovan in the Senior Bowl. Donovan was a freeze-option quarterback that did most of his damage running. I could see Andy Reid coaching a lot of these guys, starting with Prescott in the second round, third round. Bring a guy in here that has similar traits, a dual threat."

I know, I know. Gruden loves EVERY quarterback before the draft. There's some truth to that but I found it interesting that he had the Donovan McNabb comparison for Andy Reid. And Gruden would know. He worked with Prescott before the draft and Prescott was on Gruden's QB Camp.

There's also this:

The Chiefs have the 37th pick in the draft from the 49ers, which is too high for Prescott. The Chiefs also have their original 59th pick late in the second round. Could that be where Prescott lands? The Chiefs have two fourths and two fifths so whatever happens in the second they have flexibility.

As to the negative - Prescott got a DUI this offseason - the Chiefs likely have investigated that. Is that a recurring problem? Or is this a Justin Houston-like situation where a kid made a dumb mistake but isn't a bad person?

We shall see.
