Stop me if you're heard this before: the latest 2016 NFL mock draft has the Kansas City Chiefs taking a cornerback. It seems that corners are the only positions mocked to KC anymore besides the occasional defensive line pick.
This week's mock draft is from ESPN's Todd McShay who has Miami CB Artie Burns going to the Chiefs with the 28th pick.
Burns' stock continues to rise. With his extremely long arms (33¼ inches) and ability to play bump-and-run coverage, he'd be a perfect fit for Bob Sutton's defense, which is in need of a corner to play opposite defensive rookie of the year Marcus Peters after Sean Smith left in free agency.
Burns is interesting. I'm sure Chiefs GM John Dorsey is interested in those long arms but opinions on Burns are all over the place. The Godfather Gil Brandt has him as the 97th best player in the draft ... not exactly a first round pick by those standards. Meanwhile, Mike Mayock has him among the four best corners in the draft.
In this mock, Ohio State CB Eli Apple and Houston's William Jackson III are off the board but West Virginia's Karl Joseph and Clemson's Mackensie Alexander are there.
