With the 18th pick in the Arrowhead Pride mock draft, Colts GM 3Matt wine selects...
Notre Dame WR Will Fuller
Ideally, for the Colts Ron Staley falls here, but even in that unlikely situation you have to take Jim Irsay into account. Noah Spence is also an option, but Irsay would veto that as well, insisting on finding someone else for Andrew Luck to throw to, even though Luck ended the season with a lacerated kidney and Charlie Whitehurt and Josh Freeman took meaningful snaps at QB. Irsay mumbled something about who needs a kidney when I argued for an offensive lineman. Then when it was pointed out that the team had a pathetic defense and cut two of their pass rushers (Bjoern Werner and Jonathan Newsome) and one of the top pass rushers was available, Irsay mumbled something about ethics and avoiding players with drug issues. The whole room tried to stifle their laughter at this point while Irsay looked around confused.
The pick follows an unexpected pick of Phil Dorsett, and continues the trend of Irsay trying to take the place of Al Davis by meddling in team affairs and making bad personnel decisions.
All that being said, Fuller fits the mold of a Colts receiver. He's fast, a good route runner for a college receiver, a bit undersized, and not particularly tough. This pick makes too much sense for the Colts to pass up, as outside of Luck falling in their lap they routinely reach for first rounders with athletic potential.
