Is Chiefs-Broncos in play for the NFL's season opener?

NFL: Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos won the Super Bowl (ugh, I know) so they will host the Thursday night opener before the season. With the NFL schedule coming out this evening let's take another look at who will be playing the Broncos in that opener.

See the Broncos opponents here. We know Chiefs fans want it to be the Chiefs. However, I remind you a couple months ago when there was a report that suggested it would likely be the Panthers or Patriots.

Of course I want the Chiefs in that game but it's hard to compete against a Super Bowl rematch (Panthers-Broncos) and an AFC Championship rematch (Patriots-Broncos). I'm not sure how no Peyton Manning being there affects this.

The Texans have a star in JJ Watt but I'm just not sure they're good enough. The Colts also have a big star in Andrew Luck so that's one I would look at too. The Colts weren't great last year but they should be better in 2016.

This is the poll we ran a while back. We'll find out when the schedule is released tonight.
