Shortly after the Kansas City Chiefs extended running backs Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware on Thursday, multiple reports emerged that the Chiefs are trying to trade Knile Davis. The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero reported that Knile's camp made the trade request and the Dolphins have talked to the Chiefs.
Someone has been talking about this. A lot. Here's a non-comprehensive list of those who reported on the Knile trade rumors:
KC Star's Terez Paylor
Chiefs Digest's Herbie Teope
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport
Bleacher Report's Jason Cole
Miami Herald's Armando Salguero
Raise your hand if you're surprised by this? The emergence of Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware - who each received contract extensions on Thursday - made this possible. Knile Davis was mostly a kick returner until he was forced into action in the Chiefs playoff game against the Patriots. In a promising drive that hoped to keep the Chiefs in the game, Knile fumbled the ball in a critical situation. That one stung. Fumbling was the knock against him coming into the league too. It felt like this was coming.
He would be the fourth option as the Chiefs back, if the Chiefs keep four backs. I can see why someone in his position, who does have talent, would want to push for a spot where he can play.
