Chiefs should be paying attention to Jaylon Smith medical news

Notre Dame LB Jaylon Smith was considered one of the best players in the 2016 NFL Draft until a nasty injury in the Fiesta Bowl. Now NFL teams await more information on just how serious that knee injury is.

The NFL Combine went down in February but injured players return in April for medical re-checks, which is when NFL teams can get more information on the injured players. One of those players will be Smith, who very well could still be a high draft pick if he gets good medical news.

It appears that those medical re-checks will go down April 14-15.

The Chiefs should be paying attention to this news. Some had Smith as the No. 1 player in this draft before the injury. The Chiefs could draft him at 28 and, if he's healthy, have a major steal on their hands. Or they could draft him, the injury really is that serious and he never becomes the player he was. The conversation can't really start until those medical re-checks come in.
